Rebuilding the BSB

As part of preparing for the upcoming Lego expo next month, I have finaly gotten around to reassembling my Black Seas Barracuda. I'd stripped it down to clean it and replace the broken pieces.

I got my BSB a few years back from ebay. It'd been on display for almost 20 years before that (it was released in 1989) so was in need of a good clean.

Apparently it's too large and doesn't really fit inside my camera's view - but I did another timelapse (of course) as I built it. My timelapse camera doesn't have a viewfinder, so you can't see how much you are filming until you've finished - but it wasn't too bad.

It was the first pirate ship Lego produced - and it's still an awesome set today.

More M:Tron forces have arrived - this time from the Netherlands.

And this time they brought their vehicles with them!

Two separate orders from Netherlands arrived together in the mail today - that's pretty awesome.

The little buggie is the final 'normal' set for my M:Tron collection. I now own the entire theme, except for the special set that was never actually sold (more on that when it arrives).

This delivery also includes a couple of jet-pack equipped M:tron troopers. These guys didn't actually appear in any M:tron sets, but were in the 1991 Space Minifig Pack (along with some other random space dudes from the era).

My M:Tron outpost will be a truly international effort, with M:Tron troopers from Australia, Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, the US, and Canada.

50 years ago - a Nissan Patrol G60 became the first vehicle to cross the Simpson Desert.

Last year a group of my fellow G60 nutters did a crossing of their own to celebrate - and now Nissan has done an official reenactment.

The original G60 was driven by Reg Sprigg and carried his family across the desert. His children returned for the reenactment and crossed the desert again.

Sadly the original G60 could not be found (they tried) so a similar shorty G60 was found (in St Helens!). Sure this particular truck isn't quite 50 yet - but it's still very similar to the original.

There's some pretty awesome footage on youtube too....

It's been too long since there was a G60 on this website - so here's a video I found on an old 4WD Action DVD of Ray's awesome modified G60 Patrol.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgjDJ2x_Zkc

I know Ray from the forums - and he's currently pulling this old girl apart to make a comp truck G60/GQ hybrid.

It's worth watching - at 2:20 you'll hear the cameraman ask some questions. They would normally edit that out - they just couldn't believe the answer so they left the questions in there.

Zombieland Twinkie...

I have crossed Zombieland (ok, Devonport) and sought out the last remaining Twinkies...

Nerd Central - the awesomest little shop in Devonport - has just restocked with a heap of goodies from the US, including a supply of twinkies.

I'd never had a twinkie before - but I know it's the one thing that Talahasse from Zombieland is searching the country for. So of course, I had to try one.

Not earth shattering - but not bad.

And as Talahasse says - you've got to enjoy the little things...
