Weddos in Concert

It’s been a busy week so I haven’t blogged about last weekend yet - but I just wanted to say that the Weddos were awesome in concert!

Unfortunately the speakers at the gig weren’t so awesome and kept distorting - but I knew the songs well enough anyway - and the band was really getting in to it - so I still really enjoyed myself.

No one can say the Weddos don’t give it everything - they only paused a couple of times - most of the time they were just powering through an epic set list.

And of course - during the song ‘Ticket in Tatts’ when Mick sings about being 10 cents short of a dollar - the crowd all throw ten cent coins at the stage (Jen hides behind Squeezebox Wally for these parts). They’d get enough coins to buy a couple of beers at the end of the show - and they’d need it after an effort like that too.

I had one of the best views in the Palace!

Turks and I spent the day on Friday beforehand just messing around in Melbourne - and on Saturday we caught up with Rob the Bruce and his future missus while ignoring the footy.
A great trip away - even if I did catch Turkey’s cold in the process.

Until next year....

I've got the tickets - and Turkey and I are about to set sail for Melbourne tonight.

Yep - we're going to be in Melbourne this weekend ignoring a certain little football match that might or might not be happening.

We're going there for the entertainment the night before - Weddings Parties Anything are getting back together for a one night gig!

Should be awesome!

This weekend was the 2nd Brixhibition Lego expo in Hobart. So once again I packed up my car and headed south.

I really couldn’t fit much more in the car - it’s about as much as I can manage (and I left the trains behind).

This was part of my display (guarded by my cousin). I had four complete themes as well as all the current collectible minifigs, a modified Helm’s Deep display, and a few other odds and ends.

I brought my Lego tabernacle (see a few posts below) which was largely ignored, but a few people found it very interesting - pretty much as I’d expected.

This photo is courtesy of a random on Facebook. Brendon and I ran out of table space - so we were both pretty crammed. Next year we’ll know to ask for my tables than we think we need.

Jade’s zombie medieval castle scene was epic - in a totally different class to the rest of us!

Frances bought some classic lego from the 70s which was awesome to see.

Aaron left the Spirit behind this year - but bought along an awesome train layout instead.

I love Brent’s 7-Eleven!

I had three Where’s Wally custom figures that we hid around the display. Quite a few people (both young and old) were hunting for them intently. This one was in plain sight - but blends in very well with the pirates.

There are far more photos I could show you - but instead here’s a video of the crowds. Not a bad effort for good old Hobart.

Careflight Pilot Bear

Careflight Australia do rescue flights and patient transport and other useful things like that - and one of their main fundraising streams is to sell their famous Careflight Bears.

They rang me up out of the blue the other day to see if they could talk me into buying a Biggles-inspired bear - and oddly enough, I agreed.

Apparently this is the way to get me to donate to your cause - offer to sell me a teddy bear! (in addition to having a worthy cause to start with)

Note - the price of the bear is split into actual cost and donation. The donation section is tax deductable.

Space Shuttle Expedition #10231 - took over 3 hours to build this beauty!

I plan to take it to the expo next weekend - it adds some night height to displays that are normally quite low.

Still not sure about the way the landing gears pokes through - I think I'll have to modify that later...

Quite a good build - and an awful lot of pieces for the money. Especially when you got it on special!
